What you need to know
Junior Achievement of Delaware is offering two camps this summer:

  • JA BizCamp for students in grades 3 - 6
  • JA Finance Park Camp for students in grades 7 - 12 

Scholarships are available for students referred by non-profit youth serving organizations. (ie. Boys & Girls Club or YWCA)

Camp logistics

 

JA BizCamp

During the school year, Junior Achievement's Riverfront program facility is full of students visiting with their classes,

learning about careers, entrepreneurship, and how to spend their money wisely at JA BizTown. Now families can have

their children experience JA BizTown during the summer.

 

WHERE: Junior Achievement of Delaware

               522 S. Walnut Street, Wilmington, DE 19801

 

WHO: Students currently in grades 3 - 6

 

WHEN: JA BizCamp is scheduled to run three weeks during the month of July. Select an entire week or specific days.

Program content will be repeated each week.

  • June 30 - July 3
  • July 14 - July 18
  • July 28 - August 1  SESSION FULL AS OF JUNE 24th

Camp Hours: 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Extended Hours: 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (for an additional fee)

 

COST: $40 per day
Week One: $140 per week
Weeks Two and Three: $185 per week

 

Program descriptions
  • JA More than Money:  Check out the video about JA Dollars and $ense.                         
  • JA BizTown:  Here's another video for you!  It shows kids running the town at JA BizTown.  They have jobs, earn JA paychecks and even go shopping in JA BizTown!  Just because you are in elementary school doesn't mean you can't be the mayor of JA BizTown!
  • JA It's My Business:  Learn what it takes to become a successful entrepreneur!  Are you the world's next Donald Trump?!
  • JA World Tour:  Take your Biz Passport and travel around JA World in a day.  Meet people from the real world of business at the stores and offices in JA World.  The World Tour for Week Two will focus on community development and land use issues.  How do businesses take care of natural resources and meet people's needs?  Week Three World Tour will focus on careers in science, technology, engineering and math.

Camp logistics

 

JA Finance Park Camp

Students will spend two days at JA Finance Park learning how to manage their household expenses and gaining success

skills for the workplace.  At JA Finance Park, teens will learn to make important spending decisions and maintain a

balanced budget. They are given real-life scenarios and learn to budget their monthly income while buying a home and

car, paying utility bills, and eating out.  Most important of all, the hands-on nature of JA Finance Park helps students

develop a realistic understanding of the economic issues they will face upon graduation.  Students will also practice

their interviewing skills, writing a resume, and the basic skills needed to succeed at any job.

WHO: Students currently in grades 7 - 12

 

WHEN: There are three JA Finance Park Camp sessions scheduled.

  • July 7 - July 8
  • August 4 - August 5
  • August 8 and August 11

Camp Hours: 9:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

 

COST: $150

 

JA Hi-Fi is an optional opportunity for teens (7th grade & older) who have completed JA Finance Park Camp to

come back with an adult (can be a foster parent/legal guardian/social worker/or case manager) and earn $100 in

cash! Thanks to generous funding from AIG Bank, students who participated in JA Finance Park Camp can come

back to JA World to complete the JA Finance Park budgeting exercise with an adult and earn $100 in cash. Reservations

required. 

 

WHEN: There are three JA Hi-Fi dates scheduled.

  • July 9
  • August 6
  • August 12

 TIME: 5:30 - 8:30pm
